Filling Out Forms for the Concours

The Barrington Concours d'Elegance forms contain special fields that let you enter text or select options. Submitting your form electronically sends the form data to the Concours organizers and helps us save volunteer time by not reentering data from printed forms. You will need Adobe Reader 8 to be able to fill in all the fields. Adobe Reader 8 is free and is available for download here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html.

To fill out a form:

  1. Download and install Adobe Reader 8 if needed. Then download the form onto your computer.
  2. Open the document in Adobe Reader 8.
  3. Select the hand tool.
  4. Position the pointer inside a form field, and click. The I-beam pointer allows you to type text. If your pointer appears as a pointing finger, you can select a button, a check box, or click a radio button.
  5. After entering text or making a selection, do one of the following:
    • Press Tab or Shift+Tab to accept the form field change and go to the next or previous field.
    • Press Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac OS) to accept the text form field change and deselect the current field. If the current field is a check box, pressing Enter or Return turns the check box on or off. In a multiline text form field, pressing Enter or Return creates a paragraph return in the same form field. You can use Enter on the keypad to accept the change.
    • Press Escape to reject the form field change and deselect the current form field.
    • Position your mouse over the next field you want to complete and click inside the field.
    • Once you have filled in the appropriate form fields, you can do the following:
  6. Choose File > Save As, and rename the file to save the form with the data you entered.
  7. Click the Submit button. Clicking this button sends the form data to the Concours organizers via e-mail (you must be connected to the Internet when you hit "Submit") and helps us save volunteer time by not reentering data from printed forms.
  8. Click the Print button if you would like to print a copy for your records or to include with any photos or checks you are mailing.
