Autobahn “Celebration of Speed”

The Barrington Concours d’Elegance, Legends & Legacies, kicks off on Friday, October 2, 2009, with a “Celebration of Speed” at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and a drivers' meeting; run groups begin on the track at 9 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m.

Autobahn is one of the nation’s premier motorsports facilities, and we’ve arranged for a special day at the racetrack just for our Concours guests!

This is an opportunity for car enthusiasts to safely explore their car’s performance on the 2-1/2 mile racetrack — or, you can participate if you’d simply like to take your classic car for spin around the track! We’ll divide up the participants into groups based on track experience, automobile type, and driver comfort level. For those who don’t wish to drive but still want to experience the thrill of being in a high-performance car on a racetrack, non-driving guests will be invited to ride along with some of the experienced drivers.

Group A will include experienced drivers in track prepared/race cars; Group B is for drivers who have attended a driving school or club track days but still want to be in a less intense environment than Group A. Group C is for those who wish to drive their classic cars in a laid-back (very strict passing rules) manner without having more modern cars on track with them. Group D is for novice drivers with little or no track experience. Group D drivers will have a mandatory classroom session and will be provided with an instructor for the day.
